Great War to Great Escape: the Two Wars of Fl Lt Bernard 'Pop' Green MC by Laurence Green                         published by Fighting High Publications at 17-99p.  Hardback.

Bernard Green MC was the author's grandfather.  After a distinguished role at Second and Third Ypres       and the Somme he joined the RAFVR in 1939.  Somehow he survived the crash of his Hampden off the       coast of Denmark and spent almost five years in German POW camps, escaping from Stalag Luft III in       'The Great Escape' in 1944.  Most of his friends were shot on Hitler's orders but Green continued to               lead a charmed life surviving the 'Black March' across Germany in the opening months of 1945.

This book contains previously unpublished photographs from both wars and includes many taken       inside the camps.  Also published for the first time is Green's letters and postcards to his son                         who  was in the army.  An original and personal book that brings home the human side of

      warfare and captivity.
